Midweek Ramblings

Oh Wednesday! I’m glad it’s Wednesday finally cause now I’m off work for the next 3 days, although I feel like I have a ton to do with grad school papers and needing to figure out an entire assignment still. Jon told me before school started in January that he thought I should take the semester off with the baby coming and I was pretty adamant not to. I’m still glad I’m not pushing graduation back by one more semester, but it is pretty hard to stay focused when I feel like I have a million things to do. I want to get the house ready for Jackson’s arrival and I have errands that I need to run and we need to do our taxes and just a bunch of other stuff. I’d also like to make sure I work enough hours to finally get everything paid off since our $1,000 car insurance bill comes in next month, and put another $1-2,000 in the bank… But that savings probably won’t happen!

I did just clean my kitchen which literally took me 30 minutes (that’s how you know it’s bad). One thing done. Maybe tomorrow I’ll do the living room.

Jon’s having a Super Bowl “party” with a few friends on Sunday and since I work all weekend, he said he’d clean the house since he’s throwing the party. But I don’t trust his cleaning… So I’m feeling like I need to actually do something so that it doesn’t look like a disaster when his friends arrive. Besides, it’ll probably feel good to have a clean house again. It’s been so long that I forgot what it was like.

This weekend was a work weekend at my PCU job. It was the easiest weekend I’ve had in a long time. I didn’t do anything really. I had the same patients both days and after 12, I had one injection to give and I had to hang one antibiotic. Other than minor charting, I literally sat around for the next seven hours. Sounds boring, but these legs need all the sitting they can get.

Monday I had lunch with a girl who I know from my early college days. She was acquaintances with my ex-boyfriend and another guy that I dated from the same group of friends. She’s having a baby girl two weeks after Jackson is due, so we’ve sort of reconnected since she works from home during the week and I have a flexible schedule. It was nice having lunch with her! I’m glad to be “finding” friends who are in the same stage of life with the whole brand new baby thing, especially since we used to spend a lot of time with the same crowd.

I made it to the gym for a super short workout, as is the norm these days. Still felt good to at least get my heart rate up a little but I was so short of breath that I had to rest a million times. I also got some errand running in and even started on some schoolwork that night!

Yesterday I worked in the ER. It was busy but I didn’t have any really sick patients, thankfully. I did come home with some insane swelling in my legs. By far the worst it has been! Even Jon was pretty impressed with the amount fluid I’m retaining! I should pee nonstop once I deliver this baby and reabsorb all this fluid.

I’m getting super ready to be on maternity leave. I technically was declined maternity leave by my newer job since I haven’t been there for 12 months, but I already emailed the manager about not being able to work my next full weekend. I’m seriously so exhausted after one shift and my swelling is getting so bad that I’m not going to do two days in a row again before I have this baby. I need a day off in between. I can’t be on my feet for 13 hours two days in a row. Besides that, I just don’t have the energy. I was in bed at 9:15 on Saturday night this past week and I didn’t get home till 8:15! And last night I was falling asleep on the couch by 9:30! I plan on my last day at the newer job being February 20th and then I’ll continue my ER job until the baby is born, but probably just doing 8 hour shifts until he makes his arrival. And I won’t technically take maternity leave from there, but I won’t really have to work a whole lot so that’ll be fine. Besides, if I work a few hours here and here, it won’t seem so foreign when I finally go back and it’ll be nice to make a few extra dollars here and there.

I’m about to work on some school stuff and then this afternoon, Kassie and I are going to Gina’s. I would like to go to the gym but I don’t know that I’ll have time unless I don’t shower before Gina’s. Which I may do. Not that the gym is even beneficial really, but still, I’m actually in the mood to go for once. I’m so excited to work out like a normal person again one day! It was 70 degrees and sunny on Monday and it really made me miss going to CrossFit with the open garage doors and working out in the nice weather! Those are always my favorite kinds of days! But I’m just over a month away from my due date, so we’re getting there!

Time to go do some work!

  1. I barely have motivation for gradschool, I don’t know how you do it with being pregnant and working! You’re just on the go trying to get everything done before Jackson is born, it’s great.

I wish I had a football party to go to, just to chill and eat junk food mostly haha.

Wow! 75deg, I’m jealous! Here we are lucky that it’s 50deg haha.

    • Haha I really think this blog must make me sound way more motivated than I really am. Cause I definitely don’t feel like I’m on the go at all! I feel so freaking lazy! I wish Jon had a football party to go to somewhere else, haha. I’m SO tired after work, especially two days in a row, that I just want to relax and sleep when I get home!

  2. I completely understand about the lack of motivation. I am really jealous with your weather though, that sounds awesome.

  3. I have no clue how you juggle work (and the crazy schedule), grad school, and being pregnant! It is good that you can work just a little to keep your job and earn some cash while on “maternity leave” at least. Only 1 month go to and I hope you’re managing to get everything done with the crazy schedule.

It was 75 here yesterday too at lunch… craziness. It’s a lot cooler and cloudier today, though.

We still haven’t decided what we’re doing for Super Bowl Sunday but Go Panthers!
